    Salmon Region

    This report highlights the monthly fish stocking schedule. Unless noted, fish listed below are all 10 to 12 inch rainbow trout.

    Sawtooth Fish Hatchery near Stanley, ID has a visitor center open year round from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Steelhead and Chinook salmon can be viewed during fish running seasons.

  • Dark Sky Reserve

    The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) designated the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve in December 2017. It is only the twelfth Dark Sky Reserve worldwide. IDA awarded this area Gold Tier status, the highest ranking for night sky quality.
